Amine Haoui  

Amine Haoui, Ph.D.
CEO

Dr. Haoui has founded and led several pioneering wireless communications companies over the past two decades. He began his career in 1985 at TCSI where he started the wireless communications division that grew to become one of the world’s leading developers of DSP and digital cellular technologies. He led that division through TCSI’s successful IPO in 1989.  In 1993, Dr. Haoui was the founding CEO of Diva Communications, an early pioneer in the wireless local loop market, and led the company until its acquisition by InnoMedia in 1999.  From 1999 until 2003, Dr. Haoui then served as Executive VP at InnoMedia, a leader in the Voice-Over-IP market.  In 2003, he co-founded Sensys Networks, dedicated to the development of wireless vehicle detection systems.

Dr. Haoui holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from UC Berkeley and an M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

 

Robert Kavaler

 

Robert Kavaler, Ph.D. 
Senior VP

Dr. Kavaler, an inventor at heart, brings more than 25 years of computer and wireless experience to the practical problems involved in developing very low-power wireless sensors for vehicle detection.  A co-founder of Sensys Networks, Dr. Kavaler is both the architect of the Sensys product line and an individual contributor in the software and hardware implementations of the wireless sensors and access points. 

Previously, Dr. Kavaler was the head of the Berkeley Design Center of Innomedia and served as the architect of the company’s telecom server and VoIP gateway products. Before his work at Innomedia, Dr. Kavaler was CTO and VP of Engineering at Diva Communications, a wireless local loop startup he co-founded with Amine Haoui in 1993.  Dr. Kavaler has also developed new technologies for UPS, Mitsubishi, AT&T, Sharp, & Digital Microsystems. 

Dr. Kavaler received his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.

 

Robert Kavaler  

Hamed Benouar, Ph.D. 
VP of Business Development

Dr. Benouar comes to Sensys with extensive experience in the transportation industry. Most recently, he served as the Director of the California Center for Innovative Transportation (CCIT), based at the University of California, Berkeley. Established by the University of California and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) in 2001, CCIT facilitates the development, commercialization, and deployment of promising transportation technologies and systems.

Before his role at CCIT, Dr. Benouar spent many years working for Caltrans. As California's Chief Traffic Engineer, Dr. Benouar oversaw the state-wide Caltrans Transportation Operations Program, a program that included more than 1,600 employees managing the operation of more than 48,000 lane miles of state highway system.

Dr. Benouar is a registered Professional Engineer and holds a doctorate degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering (Transportation) from the University of California, Berkeley.

 

Brian Fuller  

Brian Fuller
VP of Engineering

Brian Fuller has over 16 years of product design and development experience in data networking and telephony. Prior to joining Sensys Networks, Mr. Fuller was Director of Hardware Engineering at GoDigital Networks, managing the extensive growth of the company’s xDSL technologies while designing patented systems for the company’s broadband access products.  Mr. Fuller has held positions of increasing technical and managerial responsibility at Odyssia Systems (now Extreme Networks, Inc), Diva Communications (now InnoMedia, Inc.), and OcTel Communications (now Lucent Technologies, Inc.). 

Mr. Fuller received a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University.

 

Michael Volling

 

Michael T. Volling
Director of Sales & Business Development

Michael Volling has spent nearly two decades marketing advanced vehicle detection technologies to the transportation industry.  Beginning his career at Econolite Control Products, he helped introduce the AutoScope Video Detection System to traffic management applications.  Later, Mr. Volling was instrumental in introducing and developing the market for Vantage, the video detection system from Iteris.  Now, at Sensys Networks, he is once again bringing cutting-edge new technology to the fundamental problem of vehicle detection. 

Mr. Volling received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

 

Barry Matlack

 

Barry Matlack
Director of Sales & Business Development

Barry Matlack has more than a decade of experience in technology consulting, program development, and sales management.  Immediately prior to joining Sensys Networks, Mr. Matlack was responsible for marketing, sales, and strategic industry partnerships as National Systems Consultant at Signal-Park USA, a leader in single-space detection for parking guidance/ management systems.  Mr. Matlack began his career in the CAD software industry, repeatedly increasing revenue and growing sales in many diverse environments, including at CADSoft Consulting and at the University of Advancing Technology. 

Mr. Matlack earned his B.Sc. in Design Technology at the University of Advancing Technology, fueling his passion for innovative technologies.
